Norwegian wilderness
Svenkerud Farm and Forest
Svenkerud is an old Norwegian farm, owned by the same family for more than 200 years. The current owners are 13th generation. The property consists of 3500 hectares forest and 70 hectares agricultural land.
Wild game such as moose and elk roame the forests, and even the occasional wolf or bear can be observed.
Accomodation
We have a wide range of cabins and logs for rent. Most are situated close by a lake or a river. Many of the cabins were originally used by woodloggers, now they are beautiful and exotic reminders of how norwegian forestry used to be, with woodloggers living in cabins away from home for weeks. The cabins are renovated.
We also rent out a renovated appartment in one of the farm buildings. It is well suited for participants in the Birkebeiner challenges.
Activities
The area with mountains, rivers and deep forests are perfect for hiking and biking. You can rent cano, cajak and rowing boats here. The winters are long with snow and ice. We have good conditions for crosscountry-skiing and for jigging.
Hunting and fishing
We offer moosehunt and different small game hunt such as roe deer, beaver, capercaillie and black grouse.
We offer accomodation for fishers and guide our guests to good fishing spots for pearch and pike.
